University profile UPatras is one of the leading research and teaching institutions, and the fourth largest in Greece, constantly aiming for excellence through the creation, utilization, transfer and application of knowledge. A number of its Departments, Laboratories and Clinics have been designated as Centers of Excellence, on the basis of international assessment. World rankings UPatras is ranked between the top 701-750 Universities in the world, according to QS World University Ranking in 2018 with the corresponding faculty area ranks between 151-200 for Engineering-Civil & Structural, 201-250 for Chemical Engineering, 201-250 for Mechanical Engineering and 401-450 for Medicine. UPatras has the 341st position worldwide regarding citations per faculty according to the QS World Ranking system and the 486th in general and 581th for excellence, according to Webometrics. e-learning Since 2002, the UPatras has a specific strategy for the development of infrastructure and platforms for e-learning. In recent years it has developed Open Courses and Open Educational Resources available to all citizens. Today it offers 3320 Digital Courses, 347 Open Courses. Research UPatras is significantly active in research and has a reputation for quality and innovative research. The UPatras has signed the Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for their Recruitment and operates a EURAXESS Services Center. The Senate has appointed a special Committee for Ethics in Research. UPatras holds the 3rd position in number of publications among Greek universities, manages 23,7 MEuro research funds and supports 1598 researchers International perspective The international policy of UPatras is achieved through the cooperation with universities and research institutions worldwide. UPatras formally fosters and achieves interaction and collaborations with Universities and Research Institutions worldwide engaging in and developing joint activities related to research, teaching, intensive programmes and common curricula, establishing bilateral agreements (already 200 with 55 countries), as well as participating in International & EU Educational Organizations, Networks and University Associations ensuring that it remains at the forefront of global developments. Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P) The monitoring and evaluation of the elements related to education and research, the administration services, the technological support and the international mobility, contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality in education and research, as well as in the projection of the University’s achievements in the society started at December 1999. Under the current legislative framework, MO.DI.P is the central Unit of the University, which informs and coordinates the procedures of internal and external evaluation of the Academic Departments and of the entire University. Throughout the University’s Internal and External Evaluation processes of the University, MO.DI.P aims at the substantial functional assessment of the Faculty, but also at the endorsement of anticipated improvements and adjustments, towards the central administration of the University. Project Management Professional Certificate Special Account for Research Grants has received an accreditation for Managerial Competence since 2009, issued by the Ministry of Education, certifying the administrative efficiency and capacity for the implementation of co-funded projects and programmes.
